Every piece of furniture commissioned with Mark Asplin Whiteley Limited goes through the following processes, which from the initial meeting to the furniture being delivered normally takes between 12 to 14 weeks. We feel, however, that there is no time constraint on creating the perfect piece of furniture. Some extraordinary pieces have taken up to 9 months to complete.
The usual commissioning procedure is as follows:-
1. The Design Brief is discussed by the designer with the client.
2. Initial sketches are made in conjunction with the client to identify design preferences.
3. Presentation of design work to the client with ideas boards and timber samples.
4. Final adjustments made followed by sign off by client before manufacture.
5. Furniture technical drawing given to the craftsman to begin making
8. A nickel authenticity disc is inlaid into each piece of Furniture.
9. Furniture is delivered and fitted.
We employ the latest techniques in design capability with the application of 3D rendering to create a virtual representation of work to be undertaken, be it a small item such as a chair or table or even as far as recreating a whole room, acurately representing the finished scenario.
Our breadth of experience ranges from corporate installations and furniture, domestic tables and bookcases, tv cabinets, bedroom furniture, highly specified kitchens, simple and complex jewel boxes, elaborate extraordinary furniture through to everyday furniture whether simple in form or highly decorated with intricate detail.
We have significant experience in UK and Overseas cabinet and panelling installations. These commissions are fully manufactured in our own premises by a team of makers who then travel to site to unpack and install the cabinet work. This usually requires site visits prior to production to ensure a perfect fit is achieved. Scribing to walls, floors and skirtings are often necessary and always allowed for. Completed installations have been built in New York, Hong Kong, Stockholm, Kuwait and many in London and the North.
We have also built up an enviable supply chain of specialist subcontractors and suppliers whose expertise is often incorporated into the furniture and fittings we make. These include marquetry cutters, carvers, turners, guilders, french polishers, glass suppliers and engravers, engineers in metals such as stainless steel, brass, aluminium and silver. Other experts supply granite and marble, plating services, eglomise mirrors, leathers, games pieces, brassware, boulle work, CNC work, handmade clock movements etc.
